Process
I began with a mechanical pencil sketch to plan the figure and composition. I colored the figure first, then gradually built the umbrella and background elements, adding the pavilion, landscape, water, rocks, and cherry blossoms step by step.

I focused on smaller texture choices to make each area feel more intentional.
Architectural details
Built the East Asian-inspired background with layered colored pencil, using the pavilion roof, distant mountains, and warm sky to create depth.
Umbrella texture
Used stronger pencil pressure and light yellow highlights to emphasize the umbrella folds, ribs, and layered surface.
Fog effect (digital edit)
Added light fog in Procreate as a final digital touch to soften the scene.
